John W. Schaefer
Owner, CEO, and General Counsel
Prior to founding Accurate Disbursing in 2005, Mr. Schaefer spent fifteen years as General Counsel for a major homebuilder, seven years in private practice with a large St. Louis law firm and several additional years as the vice-chairman of a commercial bank. He is also the owner of St. Louis Title, a boutique commercial title closing company and Security Title, a residential title company, in St. Louis.
John holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Dayton, a Masters of Business Administration from Emory University, and a JD from St. Louis University’s School of Law.
He is very involved with both the real estate industry and community by currently serving on the Board of Directors for St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf; the Council of Regents of DeSmet Jesuit High School; the Advisory Boards of Pulaski Bank (City of St. Louis) and BAM Construction Co., LLC; as well as being a member of the American, Missouri, and Metropolitan Saint Louis Bar Associations.
Utilizing his background in public accounting with one of the Big Four accounting firms, Dave has previously assisted various organizations as Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. In addition to strategic planning, project development, budgeting, and day-to-day management of finance and accounting, he has developed and maintained vendor relationships. His eye for detail and accounting experience has made him a great addition to the Accurate team.
Dave has a B.S. in Accounting from University of Missouri – St. Louis, where he attended on an academic and golf scholarship.
Kathy began her career in the title industry as a title recorder, abstractor, and examiner and used that background to successfully transition into the construction disbursing field. A veteran of 30 years in both title and disbursing, Kathy is also credited with developing many of the day to day operating procedures currently utilized at Accurate Disbursing. Her ability to help guide those who have never been through the disbursing process proves invaluable to our new clients every day.
Construction Escrow Officer
Bill’s background as a CPA made him the perfect fit as the escrow officer with responsibilities for maintaining the day to day disbursing balances and the daily reconciliation for all disbursing projects at Accurate Disbursing. Bill manages and maintains balances and analyzes construction funds usage for over 500 -700 nationwide construction projects at any one time.
Bill has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Nevada – Las Vegas.
Director of Construction Inspection
Jeff’s background in commercial and residential construction provided the necessary background for him to begin construction disbursing inspection activities over 20 years ago. He currently directs all Accurate Disbursing inspection activities, including inspection report development and inspection picture documentation and online insertion into Disbursa. Jeff has an extremely keen eye for construction details and utilizes that skill to help Accurate pay only those payment requests that are based on completed work.
Karen spent 7 years in the administration area of General Contracting prior to moving in to the construction title and escrow field. With over 5 years of specific experience in construction disbursing Karen now handles the disbursing for many of our developer clients with multiple residential locations and is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of those draws as well as the banking relationships providing the funding.
Brett brings over 6 years of disbursing experience to our escrow and disbursing team. Originally tasked with the responsibility of the collection of lien waivers and material releases for our daily disbursements in Missouri he has now added those same responsibilities for our Illinois clients. In addition, Brett works closely with our residential and commercial clients on their current projects.
Chrissy is a recent addition to the Accurate Team, coming to Accurate after 16+ years at Pulaski/Busey Bank, where she was a residential portfolio leader and mortgage lending underwriter. Her familiarity with the banking side of construction lending is a great addition to the Accurate team and will be invaluable as Chrissy works with our residential disbursing clients.
Amy is a recent graduate of SIU-Edwardsville with a degree in Business Administration.
After spending time handling multiple administrative responsibilities for a real estate law practice she now administers all aspects of Accurate Disbursing’s payment requests. Her responsibilities include check preparation, lien waiver collection and review, and client information technologies.
